Seaview Wastewater Treatment Plant – GRP Ducting & Odour Control Infrastructure
Working for HEB Construction, alongside Beca and Wellington Water, IFS delivered key components for this odour treatment upgrade .
The scope of included the design, manufacture, prefabrication, supply and onsite joining of GRP ducting systems, comprising:
-
Chemical-resistant GRP ducting, bends, and reducers
-
Ranging in sizes from 150 mm to 650 mm diameter
-
A 13 m GRP outlet stack designed for odour treatment and corrosive air streams
-
GRP backdraft, isolation, and control dampers integrated into the ducting network
-
Custom GRP transitions to connect new ducting into existing wastewater infrastructure
A critical aspect of this project was the timeline for completing the installation within a live wastewater treatment plant, requiring careful integration with existing and ageing infrastructure and well planned prefabrication and site joining. All materials were selected for their high resistance to corrosive gases, moisture, and chemical exposure commonly present in odour control systems, ensuring long-term durability and reduced maintenance.
This project demonstrates IFS’s capability to deliver bespoke GRP ducting, fibreglass pipework, and odour control infrastructure for wastewater treatment plants, pump stations, and industrial facilities with tight timelines and where corrosion resistance, custom fabrication, and live-site installation are essential.
